The WRite Life

I have to choose to be a writer often, not everyday, but at least once a month. And why is this? Two reasons come to mind.

  1. Security. Making money as a writer is challenging. My freelance work is fulfilling. I enjoy the writers I work with, but finding clients takes time and working with other writers takes me away form my novels. My dream is to make money from my novels.

  2. Dreams. As a child I was told to follow my dreams. When I was in college, I decided I wanted to be a writer. I dreamed of being read by others. As I read books, I was moved to tears, moved to action. I so desired to be a part of that world, the world of Edith Wharton, Kate Chopin. I have been studying the craft and writing since then — this has been over 20 years. I question when is it time to stop dreaming?
